Tourism Minister to Meet Industry Stakeholder to Discuss Proposed New Act
After written protests by two leading industry bodies, Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Travel Operators (SLAITO) and The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL), Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has called for a meeting with leading tourism related associations to discuss the proposed new legislation and the way forward.
It is hoped that the discussions will provide valuable insights, concerns and suggestions on the proposed new act.
The tourism organisations invited for tomorrow’s discussion include: Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Travel Operators (SLAITO), The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL), Association for Small and Medium Enterprises in Tourism (ASMET), and Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka (TAASL).
Given the unprecedented crisis faced by the Tourism Industry due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic industry stakeholder are of the view that support extended to the industry should take precedence over any changes to the existing legislation. (Read more here)
