Sri Lanka Visa authorisation system is back online!
The Mobitel online visa authorisation to visit Sri Lanka for tourism or business was reactivated last night.
Seven countries are eligible for free-of-charge visas – China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan. Other countries will pay $35. Children below 12 will be exempted.
The more recent announcement of 38 countries free of charge visas was not approved by Parliament.
The visa-on-arrival scheme will continue.
This is a huge relief for the Sri Lankan tourism industry and other businesses/investors. We thank all those who worked tirelessly to restore the system that worked so well.
With demand for travel to Sri Lanka increasing in the past few months, this impediment to a bumper high season has finally been removed.
