Revival of the Tourism Sector given Priority by the Government
Prasanna Ranatunga, Tourism Minister stated that priority has been given to the revival of the tourism industry which is ravaged by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic given the critical socio economic contribution made by the sector. International Organisation for Migration (IOM) on Tuesday donated health and safety equipment valued at Rs. 45 million in addition to grants offered by Japanese and Australian Governments. Kimarli Fernando, Chairperson Sri Lanka Tourism reiterated that all tourists wishing to travel to Sri Lanka will need to submit an online visa application with additional questions such as duration of stay, tour itinerary, booking of accomodation (from a COVID-19 health safety compliant accommodation), and in-country transport.
