Webinar Organised by PwC and Daily FT Discusses Issues Facing Tourism Industry Post Covid-19
A webinar organised by PwC Sri Lanka and Daily FT featuring leading experts in tourism discussed key issues facing the tourism sector post the COVID-19 pandemic. The key discussion points focussed on the importance of extreme targeting, covering not only high end but also targeting low end foreign visitors like backpackers who are basically more prone to travelling during this period and offering differentiated products covering all segments. It was also highlighted that there was less than 300 room nights that fall into the category of high end accommodation even though there is discussion around high end foreign visitios being a core target for Sri Lanka tourism post the COVID-19 pandemic. The discussion also focussed on the importance of DMC’s towards the tourism industry with some accommodation providers relying on DMC’s to fill up 60 percent of hotel capacity.
