Repatriation of Sri Lankans Remains a Top Priority
Repatriation of Sri Lankans stranded overseas remains a top priority for the Government of Sri Lanka. Over 50,000 people have expressed interest in returning back to Sri Lanka. Priority will be given to Sri Lankans stranded in Middle Eastern countries and the Maldives ahead of people stranded in South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, Australia, the US and China. So far over 20,000 Sri Lankans from 94 countries have returned back to the country according to Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage, Additional Secretary to the President for Foreign Relations.
