UNWTO Confirms That the Global Travel Count Plunged to 65% in the First Half of 2020
The data from World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) shows that International foreign arrivals plunged 93% in June compared to 2019.
New information shared by World Tourism Barometer from the United Nations specialized agency mentioned that international arrivals dropped by 65% during the first half of 2020. UNWTO also shared that the massive plunge in international travel demand over the period of January-June 2020 translates into a loss of 440 million international arrivals and about $ 460 billion in export revenues from international tourism. This is five times the loss in international tourism receipts recorded in 2009 amidst the global economic and financial crisis.
