Plans to be Formulated to Achieve Earnings of USD 1 Billion from Tourism in 2021
Basil Rajapaksa, Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Economic Recovery and Poverty Alleviation highlighted the importance of formulating plans and proposals aimed at increasing the earning from tourism to USD 1 Billion in 2021. He also reiterated the importance prioritising the vaccination of industry employees to aid the tourism sector recovery. With most countries trying to resuscitate the tourism industry, Sri Lanka must focus on reviving the tourism sector leveraging on the country’s comparative success in containing the COVID-19 pandemic.
