Foreign Visitor Arrivals Fall by 9% in April
According to the latest data released by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) April recorded a 9% dip in foreign visitor arrivals in comparison to March with a total of 4168 visitors arriving in Sri Lanka in April.
Arrivals till April 2021 also recorded a 97.3% decline compared to the same period last year.
The dip in the number of visitors in April is attributed to the worsening of the COVID-19 situation in Sri Lanka and neighbouring South Asian countries.
It is also interesting note that the largest source markets in April were India followed by China, Kazakhstan, Germany and the UK.
