Rs. 520 Million Allocated for Tourism Development Projects
During a discussion held yesterday at the Ministry of Tourism to review progress of development projects, it was confirmed that a total of Rs. 520 Million was allocated towards implementation of the annual development plan.
Of the Rs. 520 Million, Rs.37 Million and Rs. 45 Million will go towards the development of tourist attractions and human resources respectively. A further 100 Million has been allocated to revamp ancient Dutch Forts while another Rs.62 Million will be directed towards the development of railway stations.
The minister also stressed that tourism development activities must be done jointly by the Tourism Ministry and Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). (Read more here)
