SLTDA Requests On-Arrival Visa to be Extended to 6 Months
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) submitted a proposal to the cabinet of ministers with a request to extend the on-arrival tourist visa validity from the current period of 1 month to a period of 6 months at the current cost of USD 35 (for a period of 1 month).
Given the lengthy quarantine procedures foreign visitors will be required to follow, extending the validity to 6 months at the same cost is expected to encourage visitors to extend their stay and immerse themselves in experiencing Sri Lanka fully. The country’s quarantine procedures require visitors to go through an initial quarantine period of 14 days. After completing the initial quarantine phase visitors will be able to move to a selected hotel where they will be able to visit selected hot spots during specified visiting hours whilst going through the 2nd phase of quarantine procedures for an extra 14 days.
