Sri Lanka Welcomes over 1600 Foreign Visitors in January 2021
After almost a 10 month closure Sri Lanka reopened for foreign visitors in January 2021, welcoming over 1600 visitors in the month of January. This is a decline of 99.3% compared to the pre pandemic same period last year. Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has noted that the pilot project carried out by the Sri Lankan government in December has aided in increasing the number of arrivals from Central and Eastern European countries. The top five international foreign visitor markets for January were Ukraine, Belarus, China, Russian Federation and Germany.
