Tourism and Hotel Management Institutes to be Established at District Level
Prasanna Ranatunga, Tourism Minister, during progress review meeting held at Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) confirmed that plans are in place to establish tourism and hotel management institutes at district level in line with the president’s policy framework ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour’. The minister also reaffirmed the need to upgrade the current diplomas to degree programs in an effort to build capacity going forward and stated that discussion are already underway with the University Grants Commission (UGC) in this regard.
