Experience Hosts

An Experience is an activity that is more engaging than a traditional tour or visit to a site. It is meant to be authentic and give the guest a local’s point of view of a destination or attraction. Experiences are designed, developed and hosted by locals who want to share something special about their city/town/village, culture, food, crafts or way of life with visiting travellers.

If you have a desire to create a specific activity or tour in your city or community that will help travellers experience something truly unique and exciting, the job of an Experience Host might be something you want to consider.

This is a very informal career, as there is no structured path to follow, neither is there a qualification you are required to have. The driving force is your passion, interest and enthusiasm to share something you love with others.

Experience Hosts should not be confused with Tour Guides, National or Chauffer Guides, as the latter are licensed by a state authority and are official positions.

Experience Hosts have the freedom to create an activity and deliver it in their own unique way. Some examples for Experiences that you can host include, street food tours, cycling through historic sites, photography tour of a city, cooking experiences, art walks, meditation sessions, treks and hikes and guided city walks. The idea is to create and curate a special activity that people want to experience.
