What is e-Operations?



e-Operations is a key part of your e-Tourism Action Plan: the cyclical, iterative process for tourism management in the digital age.

As we already discussed in the e-Tourism course, hotel and guest house operations managers are in charge of the day-to-day operations: overseeing every aspect of housekeeping, catering and front office to ensure smooth operations and maximum profit.

Those traditional operations roles all still exist, but e-operations uses digital tools for efficiency and accuracy to reduce costs and increase profit by managing bookings, customers' bills, accounting and payments.

e-Operations systems include:
  • Reservation management
  • Property management
  • Business management
Most digital solutions these days combine at least two of those three components – reservation and property management are usually folded together in a single solutions package.
