Facebook Insights

Just as Google Analytics is used to analyse your website data, Facebook Insights provides the data that you need to analyse your Facebook Page.

More than 2 billion people use Facebook, so how do you get your business noticed? That's where Facebook Insights comes in. Understanding your Facebook page's metrics gives you the information you need to make sure you're putting the right content in front of your customers.

Insights provide information about your Page's performance, like demographic data about your audience and how people are responding to your posts.

To see Page Insights:

  • Click Insights at the top of your Business Page. If you don't see Insights, click More.
  • Click sections on the left for more information.

Know your audience like never before

Facebook Audience Insights gives you aggregated information about two groups of people - people connected to your Page and people on Facebook - so you can create content that resonates with your audience as well as easily find more people like the ones in your current audience.

In this video we're going to talk about Analysing your Facebook Analytics.

Gather the data
To get started you must first gather all the data you need. Go to the Overview tab in your Facebook Insights, then click Export Data.

Conduct your analysis

There are several things you should know in order to make better strategy and content marketing decisions.
  1. The best post. Look at your top posts by likes and shares to see what type of posts your audience like. The best metric for this is Engagement rate - the higher it is, the more it appeals to your followers
  2. Your audience. The demographic breakdown of your audience helps you to create more tailor-made content. For example, are you aiming at local tourists or those from the East or West? Are you aiming at a younger audience who might like more adventure or an older audience that might prefer relaxation and luxury? What is your target market?
  3. The best time. See how often your audience goes online and at what time of day. Try to plan your posts for the time that your audience is online so that there is more chance that they will see it.
  4. The next step. Conduct an audit to analyse your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. This will help you to see where to focus your attention.
